Job Announcement for Library Director of the Huron Public Library in Huron, SD.

Huron, SD is located in  northeastern central South Dakota.  Huron has a population of approximately 12,000 people and the economy is supported mainly by agriculture and manufacturing.

The Huron Public Library recently completed an expansion/remodeling project and now the public service area of the building is approx. 200 x 100 sq. ft.  which houses a collection of nearly 110,000 items.  The 2008 circulation was nearly 140,000 items.  The 2010 budget will be $470,000.  Huron Public Library is automated, using ALEPH (Ex Libris), and is a member of the South Dakota Library Network (SDLN).

Library Director – Huron Public Library

 Responsible for all library operations, services, resources and staff.

Education and Experience required for this position:

1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Library Science or Information Science required.

2. Three (3) years experience as a professional librarian.

3. Experience in an automated library preferred, including familiarity with the use and management of computerized library systems and resources,

desired.
